General Assembly Update
March 16, 2010

On March 12th, Delegate Vivian Watts (former Secretary of Transportation) gave a speech on the floor of the House of Delegates in which she called for a special session to address the transportation funding issue. In recent interviews, Governor McDonnell has said his administration is looking at various funding alternatives and would call a special session on transportation this year, “but only if he can first build support for his proposals.“ McDonnell said Secretary of Transportation Sean Connaughton has been working with a group of advisers to come up with ways to tackle the governor’s transportation goals.
