General Assembly Update

GENERAL ASSEMBLY HITS FINAL STRETCH
With one week to go, The Virginia General Assembly is working to resolve several bills of interest to our members. The Omnibus Transportation Bill (HB 1887) has passed the House. An alternative, which contains most of the major provisions of the original House bill, is under consideration by the Senate. Likely scenario is that the Senate will pass their version and the Bill will end up in a conference committee to resolve differences. The rewrite of the procurement law is facing a similar fate. HB 1835 and SB 1371 contain the limitations on job order contracting and cooperative procurement that we lobbied for, but several other issues remain unresolved. These bills are also headed to a conference committee for resolution.
