About VTCA
What is VTCA?
Our History: In 1943 a small group of forward-thinking road builders founded the Virginia Road Builders Association to promote the development of the Commonwealth’s road and highway network. Similarly, in 1927 a group of conscientious aggregate producers formed the Virginia Aggregates Association to protect and promote the interests, growth and welfare of the mining industry (crushed stone, sand & gravel and industrial minerals) in Virginia. In 2005 the two organizations merged to become the Virginia Transportation Construction Alliance providing a powerful voice for contractors, aggregate producers, engineers, suppliers and service providers who design, build and maintain Virginia’s transportation network.
Our Mission: VTCA is the advocate and spokesperson for Virginia’s transportation construction and aggregates industries. For you, we:
- Fight to protect and grow transportation funding. VTCA serves as Virginia’s voice for long term, sustainable transportation investment – the economic engine of Virginia’s prosperity.
- Maintain and promote open communication and cooperation between the industry, the Virginia Department of Transportation, the Department of Mines, Minerals and Energy and other state agencies.
- Provide the critical information needed to stay on top of industry issues. The Blue Top, Tech Log and Heard Along the Highway complement our award-winning Directory of Members.
- Offer an extensive array of education and training—often training not available anywhere else. The VTCA Spring Conference & Trade Show is the only one of its kind in Virginia.
Our Scholarships: Each year VTCA awards over $15,000 in scholarships!
