GENERAL ASSEMBLY ADJOURNS AFTER BUDGET COMPROMISE

The Virginia General Assembly adjourned yesterday after reaching a compromise on the budget. The more that $3 billion shortfall in the budget was made up with cuts in education, medical and public safety, along with “borrowing” form the state retirement funds and increases in some fees.

More than a dozen bills dealing with transportation funding were introduced, but only one passed—offshore drilling proceeds going to transportation—which will do nothing to fund the immediate funding crisis.

While the final status report on some bills won’t be available for several days, here is list of significant bills which we successfully lobbied on behalf of our members.
