General Assembly Update

February 13, 2013

Senate Passes Transportation Funding Package

Today the Senate voted 26-14 to pass the transportation funding bill (HB 2313) that came out of the Senate Finance Committee yesterday. (See GA UPDATE 2-12-13). 20 Democrats and 6 Republicans voted for the bill.  14 Republicans voted against the bill.

Voting in favor of the bill:  Alexander, Barker, Blevins, Carrico*, Colgan, Deeds, Ebbin, Edwards, Favola, Herring, Howell, Locke, Lucas, Marsden, Marsh, McEachin, McWaters*, Miller, Northam, Peterson, Puckett, Puller, Saslaw, Stosch, Wagner, Watkins.

Voting against the bill:  Ruff, Norment, Black, Garrett, Hanger, Martin, McDougle, Newman, Obenshain, Vogel, Stuart, Stanley, Smith, Reeves.

Since the House and Senate disagree on their bills, we expect there to be a committee of conference where they will attempt to work out their differences.

*There were technically two votes on the bill (after a “reconsideration” was requested) and Carrico and McWaters say they intended to vote against the bill.
